Tata Motors has launched the new Aeris compact sedan in India, with introductory ex-showroom prices starting at Rs. 5.29 lakh. The new model replaces the Tigor for private buyers and brings updated styling, a refreshed cabin, additional features and petrol and CNG powertrain options.
Although the Aeris carries a new name and receives several design and equipment upgrades, it retains the familiar compact sedan silhouette of the Tigor. The company is also continuing to offer the Tigor in its Xpres guise for fleet and commercial customers.
With the Aeris, Tata Motors is looking to attract individual buyers who want the practicality of a sedan along with modern technology, comfort and safety features.
Tata Aeris Exterior Design: Updated Styling and New Colour Options
The Tata Aeris takes design inspiration from the Tiago hatchback while retaining the distinctive coupe-like roofline and overall proportions of the Tigor. The exterior receives several changes, particularly at the front and rear, giving the sedan a refreshed appearance.
At the front, the Aeris features sleeker LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs). The gloss-black grille follows Tata’s latest design language, while the revised front bumper features updated detailing and ice-cube-style LED fog lamps.
The lower air dam is now larger, while the upper grille has a slimmer design. A front camera is positioned below the Tata logo, contributing to the car’s updated appearance and supporting its camera-based features.
On the sides, the sedan gets new 15-inch diamond-cut aero alloy wheels, blacked-out outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs) with integrated turn indicators and subtle chrome detailing around the windows and door handles. The wheel-arch cladding remains relatively minimal.
The car gets redesigned LED tail lamps and an illuminated connecting strip that gives the rear a more contemporary look. However, the familiar high-mounted stop lamp extending across the rear windscreen has been retained. A reversing lamp integrated into the bumper and a reversing camera above the number plate complete the rear design.
Despite the exterior updates, the Aeris retains the same overall dimensions as the outgoing Tigor. Its 419-litre boot continues to offer practical luggage space, with hydraulic struts helping make better use of the available storage area.

Tata Aeris Interior and Features
Inside, the Tata Aeris borrows much of its cabin layout from the Tiago, featuring a minimalist dashboard design with a lighter colour scheme. The combination of brown and beige tones is intended to make the cabin feel brighter and more spacious.
The dashboard features a digital instrument cluster for the driver and a large central touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel has a new two-spoke design with tactile controls, including buttons for cruise control. Paddle shifters are available on AMT variants.
The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with Tata’s iRA connected-car technology, which offers more than 35 connected features. A six-speaker sound system is also included.
For improved comfort, the front seats come with ventilation, leatherette upholstery and extended thigh support. Rear passengers benefit from a centre armrest and cupholders, adding to the sedan’s everyday practicality.

Safety and Driver Assistance Features
Safety is another area where the Aeris receives several equipment upgrades. Six airbags are offered as standard across the range, along with ABS with EBD, corner stability control (CSC), electronic stability programme (ESP), hill-hold assist, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.
Higher variants get additional features, including a 360-degree camera with multiple 2D and 3D viewing options, a blind-view monitor and a multiview digital video recorder.
Automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers are also part of the equipment package.
The iCNG versions reportedly receive dedicated safety measures, including gas-leak detection, leak-resistant materials, thermal incident protection and rear-crash protection.
Tata Aeris brings a new name, refreshed styling and a substantially updated feature list to Tata Motors’ compact sedan portfolio. With petrol and CNG options, manual and AMT transmissions, and introductory prices starting at Rs. 5.29 lakh, the sedan retains the familiar mechanical foundation of the Tigor while focusing on private buyers.
The continuation of the Tigor Xpres for commercial use also marks a change in Tata’s approach to the compact sedan segment, with separate offerings for individual and fleet customers.
