Jaiswal Dropped, Pant Gets New Role: India’s T20 World Cup match against Ireland: Pathan

This decision comes after Jaiswal was initially included in the team based on Irfan Pathan’s analysis from the warm-up game. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has been given a fresh role in the lineup, adding another layer of intrigue to India’s strategy.

Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped in shocking U-turn from Pathan; Rishabh Pant given fresh role in India’s T20 World Cup XI vs Ireland

Irfan Pathan reneged on his statement when he left out Yashasvi Jaiswal from the Indian squad that might play against Ireland in the T20 World Cup.

Irfan Pathan, a former cricketer for India, was one of the few pundits who supported the notion of a left-right combination at the top of the batting order in the playing XI for the Twenty20 World Cup, choosing Yashasvi Jaiswal to open with captain Rohit Sharma.

Jaiswal can even be useful with one or two overs as a part-time spin-bowling option, according to Pathan, who even went so far as to say that Jaiswal is not like any other top-order hitter, “which leaves India handicapped.” Pathan, however, later reneged on his promise to bench Jaiswal when selecting the probable starting lineup for the T20 World Cup matchup with Ireland.

Another option for Team India is a young player who bowls in the nets but hasn’t bowled in matches, Yashasvi Jaiswal,” Pathan told Star Sports while discussing the possible bowling combinations for Team India. “Our other batsmen, like Rohit, Virat, or Suryakumar Yadav, can’t bowl, which makes us somewhat handicapped. Ideally, if any of these players could bowl, it would greatly benefit the team.”

However, Pathan did not pick the left-handed batter in his preferred India XI for the match against Ireland based on the conclusions he drew from the warm-up game against Bangladesh on Saturday in New York. Jaiswal did not bat for India in that game as Rohit opened alongside Sanju Samson despite Virat Kohli’s absence.

Instead, the previous winner of the T20 World Cup followed the crowd and chose Kohli to open with Rohit before moving Rishabh Pant to the position of No. 3 batter. The potential of a new lineup for India was raised by the wicketkeeper’s explosive 53 off 32 balls against Bangladesh. At position four, Pathan then added Suryakumar Yadav. Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja came next in that order.

He included Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav as the only specialist bowler in the bowling department. When the Indian caravan travels to the Caribbeans for the knockout stage, Pathan predicted that one of the pacers will be replaced by Axar Patel in the starting lineup.
